Lord, make our way clear

I'm in the business of talking about the Lord. I use the term "The Lord" a lot. One thing I am painfully aware of though is that I can shift into an unhealthy jargon if I am not careful. By that I mean, we have all met people who seem to have a running dialogue with the Almighty twenty-four hours a day. The Lord this and the Lord that. You know what I mean. You get the impression that every step this person takes is by clear Divine direction.

Either those folks are super-spiritual or we are not that spiritual or something inbetween. The fact is, guidance is a challenging subject to tackle. We have the Lord's clear promise that He will guide His people. We also know that many voices compete for our attention, and what passes for guidance is often the manipulation of men, or our own self-delusion.

Is there a way to be sure we've heard from God? Are there things we can learn that will make guidance less of a problem and more of a blessing?

When we get into the Bible it is my prayer that we will experience something fresh . . . something new . . . something clear. I don't assume that I am capable of such clarity. Not for one moment do I assume that I have any insights worth your attention. I do believe however, that the Holy Spirit has been given to "Guide us into all the truth." Jesus promised that. I believe Him and I expect that He can make things very clear for each of us, and for all of us corporately.

Lord, make our way clear. Speak direction to us. Show us the way. These things we pray in Jesus' name and for Your names' sake.

Amen?
