Pastor Ron Mehl

On a sad note, Pastor Ron Mehl went home to be with the Lord last Friday. I first met Ron over fifteen years ago. I was pastoring in Canada at the time. I had reached a point in my life where I seriously considered quitting. I heard about this guy in Beaverton, Oregon (wherever that was) that the Lord was using in a mighty way. My first clue that something special was going on was the fact that there were police directing traffic into the parking lot between the services.

After waiting for dozens of people to talk to him after the service, I met Ron and told him a little of my story. He looked hard at me, then said: "This is God (that you are here) . . . I want you to meet me tomorrow morning."

We met at his office at 6:00 AM. We prayed, we wept, and he ministered life to me. I have no problem saying that the Lord used him to save my ministry and my life. For years after that meeting I received weekly a tape of the service at Beaverton. Over the years I watched this servant suffer with Leukemia, and maintain a schedule that would wear out a dozen men.

Our movement has suffered a great loss. I loved Ron Mehl. If I can be a fraction of the man of God he was, I will have done well.
