We get lots of e-mail asking what factory load we recommend for hunting. The problem is that all rifles are individuals and the load that shoots great in one rifle may be indifferent in another. However, in order to give Guns and Shooting Online readers an idea of what loads we use, we have compiled the following list of the factory loads we use in our personal hunting rifles, listed by cartridge, brand and specific load (bullet).

Some staff members hunt mostly with reloads, but this list includes only factory loads readers can purchase online or in their local gun shop. In some calibers, such as .270 Winchester, our various shooters and their rifles seem to have quite different preferences. In other calibers, there is general agreement about ammunition. Naturally, not all calibers are used by all staff members and some are not used by any, so if your favorite cartridge is not listed, that is the reason.
